Just One Goat Can Make A Difference

Welcome to the 15th Annual Dar es Salaam Charity Goat Races, Saturday 30 May 2015.

Brought to Tanzania by Paul Joynson-Hicks from Uganda in 2001, who would have thought that a herd of goats running around a track in Dar es Salaam would be heading steadfastly in the direction of raising millions of Shillings for local organisations and grass roots charities. The Goat Races is a fun family event, attracting crowds of more than 4,000 people from all over Dar es Salaam and elsewhere. Many take part in the fancy dress competitions and enjoy the range of food and drinks available, as well as placing a bet or two in the races. And the range of games and activities in the dedicated kids area keep the hordes of children who come each year fully amused. However, in all the fun, it’s important to remember that the Goat Races’ ultimate purpose is to raise money to support small Tanzanian organisations and charities and, at it’s heart, that’s what it’s really all about. Come and join us, have fun, and help us to make it count. Remember just one goat really can make a difference!
